Overview

The Web Lecture Archive Project started as a joint venture between the UM-ATLAS Collaboratory Project, the University of Michigan Media Union, and CERN, the European Laboratory for Particle Physics. One of its goals is to implement an archival system for slide-based presentations, consisting of synchronized audio, video and high-resolution slides, available on demand to anyone in the world with a web browser. The project also seeks to assess the ability of the system to improve upon and complement existing archival methods, and to determine the resources required to install and maintain the system as a standard archival service. The current project builds upon the work initiated by a pilot project carried out July-September, 1999, and sponsored by the National Science Foundation.
